Passion and dedication are woven into everything Nancy Deckant has done throughout her 20 year career in the music industry. For 10 years she played in bands and for 8 years she was a Workshop Coordinator for NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Assoc. Int’l). She specialized in educating songwriters about the music business and in the craft of songwriting, evaluated countless songs and helped songwriters advance their songwriting skills. These experiences were all prior to her move to Nashville in 2013.

Once in Nashville her successes continued in multiple areas of expertise.  As a publisher Nancy’s efforts are focused on songplugging. Her clients have included Bernie Nelson "Daddy Never Was The Cadillac Kind", Joe Doyle who penned "In Pictures" by Jamie Johnson and Dave Pahanish “Without You” by Keith Urban. Nancy currently partners with music industry veteran Shar'n Clark to help songwriters get song placements through “Row Call” (A Songpugging Group). Together the team have cuts and singles on Charles Esten, Gary Allen, Blake Shelton, Reba, and sync placements on Jack Ryan, The Real World, Ocean Child, etc.

Her songwriting accomplishments are just as impressive. Her accolades include achieving top 40 success on Billboard in 2021 with “Princess” by Dallas Remington and “Hangin’ Moons” by Cody Clayton Eagle that reached over a million Spotify streams in 2022 and sync placements “She Believes In Her Dreams” in Ocean Child, the movie.

Today, Nancy’s passion for the music industry combined with the credibility as a top 40 Billboard songwriter, have enhanced her talents as the GM of Nashville Cool! Publishing.  In 2020 she founded and sits as the CEO of Discover Sooner, a professional development company that connects unsigned songwriters with publishers and music professionals whose mission is to help the next generation of songwriters and artists expand their network of music professionals.

 

Discover Sooner has successfully helped songwriters develop relationships with major publishers, collaborate with major label artists, and co-write with signed songwriters. There are now over 250 songwriters who have met with publishers, and many of them are now co-writing at major publishers. Nancy also helped artist Ben Fuller round out his management team which led to a record/publishing label with Provident.

Nancy is an active member of the AIMP (Association of Independent Music Publishers), the NMPA (National Music Publishers' Association), GMS (Friends of the Guild of Music Supervisors), Global Songwriters Connection and is a member of the CMA.
